The best-known, best-loved sour cherry. Large, bright-red fruits with firm yellow flesh accomplish marvels in pies, preserves and juices; good for freezing. Sour cherries are packed with healthful anti-oxidants. Taking its name from a valley in France, highly adaptable tree, growing to 20 ft., is extremely winter hardy. Self-fertile: only one tree is needed to produce. Ripens mid-July. Chilling requirements of 900-1000 hours below 45¡ãF.
