Tulip Sunbeam Mix
Seedsplant
Launch your spring garden in style with this bright-toned blend of yellow, orange, and red blooms! We have assembled 5 premium tulip and daffodil varieties to bring you a bed of blooms so brilliant you'll reach for your sunglasses to enjoy them!
The Sunbeam Blend contains 3 varieties of tulips and 2 of daffodils, for a continuous series of bloom that carries the garden from early spring into midseason. The daffodils begin the show: you have diminutive 'Peeping Tom' as a starter, with solid yellow blooms like blown-back trumpets, just 8 to 10 inches high. This is a cyclamineus daffodil, very choice in the vase as well as garden and container.
'Peeping Tom' is soon joined by 'Martinette,' a jonquil that exudes a rich, sweet fragrance from each of its lovely yellow-and-orange blooms. You will know that spring has arrived when you step outside one day and are engulfed in this sweet scent! The perianth (outer petals) of each 'Martinette' are pure gold, while the central trumpet is orange.
Mid-spring is tulip season, and you can expect 'Big Smile' to delight garden visitors with its elegant egg-shaped blooms of soft primrose. A Single Late variety, it is dependably long-blooming on sturdy stems.
A fine companion to 'Big Smile' is 'Helmar,' a Rembrandt tulip of brightest yellow-gold with burgundy-red flames and streaks. Big, cup-shaped blooms open slowly over a period of several weeks, prolonging the beauty of these 14- to 18-inch stems.
And then there's 'Ballerina,' one of the most fragrant of the tulips, a late-blooming lily-flowered type with elegant hourglass blooms of deep orange edged in gold. What a spectacuar way to end the tulip season in your garden!
The Sunbeam Blend offers instant landscaping for sunny spots large and small. The daffodils will naturalize happily, returning in increasing numbers over the years where they are content, while the tulips will be annual or biennial south of zone 7 but perennial farther north. They can be planted in seconds, then enjoyed for many years!
