Penguin Gourd Seeds
Seedsplant
120 days from direct sowing.
These whimsically-shaped gourds certainly make ideal penguins, but their incurved neck--resembling a powderhorn or a cornucopia--lends itself to a variety of crafts, as well as great ornamental value as a centerpiece or in winter arrangements. And you should have plenty of fruit to practice with-- they arise so plentifully on easy-care vines that a single plant should supply several dozen gourds in late summer or early fall!
To obtain a variety of sizes and shapes, harvest some of the gourds when tiny (the necks may be straighter) and let other reach maximum size. An artist's delight!
Sow seeds directly in full sun after the soil has warmed. Train the vine onto a trellis or fence to save space and to produce neater, more rounded shapes. Pkt is 25 seeds.
