Sunny Reggae Dahlia Seeds
Seedsplant
Certain to become your favorite flower in the garden as well as the vase, Sunny Reggae is a gift that every gardener deserves. This collarette-stye Dahlia sets big, semi-double 3 1/4-inch daisies in every shade of yellow, gold, orange, orange, and light red that you can imagine. And it does it all on a compact plant you never have to stake!
Sunny Reggae is an open-pollinated variety that pollinators will adore as much as you do. The tightly-packed, slender petals surround a frilly orange-amber cone, and often included a little ruff of short petals in another shade entirely. No two flowers will be just alike, creating instant interest in even a small bouquet or planting!
Winner of Europe's highest award for seed -- the Fleuroselect -- Sunny Reggae has been praised for its ease of growth and its staying power as well as its undeniable beauty. The blooms begin in midsummer and will go right up to frost, often increasing in number and size in the cooler fall weather.
Some gardeners are wary of Dahlias because of the work involved with staking these weak-stemmed plants, but Sunny Reggae is so compact and self-branching that all you have to do is stand back and admire the blooms! It reaches just 20 to 24 inches high and no more than 18 inches wide. Give it sunshine (full in the north, part in the south and southwest), food, and any good garden soil, and it will be happy!
Start seeds indoors about 6 to 8 weeks before the last anticipated frost, and set out the plants when the soil has warmed in spring. Like all Dahlias from seed, Sunny Reggae will grow a tuber during the season, which you can dig up and store for replanting next spring! So although it's hardy only in zones 8-10, this plant can bloom for years in your garden! Make a special place for this award-winning showstopper! Pkt is 50 seeds.
